If you’ve been following me for a while now, you know that I rarely wear color. If that’s the same case for you, lilac is such a good transition into color. It’s almost a grey-ish purple, but still a muted color. It gives a light, spring vibe, while still keeping you in the neutral zone.
Spring is obviously on my mind today (it was in the 60s today in Atlanta!) as I got dressed. I knew I wanted to style this long sleeved dress button down dress, but I wasn’t quite ready to go full out with the bare legs. I also tend to look very young if I don’t “edge up” or “grow up” a dress like this. Anyone else feel the pain when people ask what you’re studying in high school these days? No?
I decided on some sort of pants situation – I just didn’t know if I wanted to do jeans or something else. I remembered that I had a lighter shade of lilac wide legged trousers and was thrilled how well they paired together.
There are a few things that make this look work: (1) the colors compliment each other, in this case, they’re close in color (2) both materials are lightweight and look like they should go together and (3) these pants being high-waisted, allowed for a higher tuck of the dress, which helps show where your natural waist would be – if I were to wear these with lower wasted pants, it might look a little frumpy.
I love this combo and see myself rockin’ it on Easter Sunday in lieu of a dress. Classy, but also trendy.
